Acceptable Forms of Identification

• A current and unexpired driver's license
• A current and unexpired passport
• A current and unexpired government-issued non-driver ID card
• Any other current government-issued ID that includes the person's photograph and signature, and is deemed satisfactory by the notary public

Expired IDs are not acceptable. 

A notary public's role is to authenticate signatures on documents like contracts, deeds, and affidavits. This authentication ensures that the signers are aware of all the terms and are willingly participating in the transaction.
